Experience On the Job Training at Balaikota Semarang

 MY EXPERIENCE IN INTERNSHIP

Hi, I'm Fasya, one of the students from SMK N 4 Semarang majoring in Building Information Modeling Design (DPIB). Here, I'll talk about my internship experience when I was in high school with three of my friends. Enjoy!

   As a SMK student, I was required to take part in an internship at a company. The internship lasts 6 months. Starting from January to June 2022, and on January 3 I started my internship at Balaikota Semarang. Farah, Ochi, and Fatima were my friends during my internship and we were in the same office at DISPERKIM (Dinas Perumahan Rakyat dan Kawasan Permukiman).

   On the first day we were allowed to introduce ourselves by Mr. Agus the head of the department. The employees and staff in the office are so kind. We adjusted to where we worked and got our first assignment, which was to design a two-story house, guided by Mas Andre, one of the employees there.

   We start doing our work at 8 am until 12 pm, then we take a break first. At break time me and some of my friends pray zuhur then continued with lunch and we also bought snacks behind the Balaikota, in the Pekunden park to be precise. There are lots of interesting foods, such as leker, corndog, es doger, batagor and many more. One of my favorite snacks is like, I buy it almost every day. The seller is also friendly, we joked while buying their wares

   After a few days of our internship, we were invited to several flats in Semarang. They're doing a survey for improvement. We can see various conditions of flats and their occupants. Sometimes the atmosphere there is less comfortable because of limited facilities. But there are also flats with a comfortable atmosphere.

   During the month of Ramadan, there is an event at the Balaikota Semarang, namely Dugderan, one of the traditions of the city of Semarang to welcome the coming of the fasting month. There we could see warak ngendog, the icon of the dugderan event. The event took place lively, and at that time the mayor of Semarang, Pak Hendrar Prihadi, also came. After the month of Ramadan was over, we took a few days off, and when we returned to work, my friend and I were given thr by Mas Faris, one of the office employees who is close with us. And at that time a culinary event was being held at the Balaikota, so my friend and I went to the event.

   Six months passed, our internship time was over. Before we left the office, we said goodbye and distributed a few snacks to all existing employees and staff. Not forget, as a thank you to Mas Andre and Mas Faris, we gave a little gift for being our good friends there.
